I had a lovely birthday.
I met Gayle and Lucas for lunch on Saturday. It was meant to be Jade’s family too, but they weren’t well, so it was just Gayle and me, and then her mum, Robyn joined us for dessert.
We had a very nice afternoon, and I was still quite full at dinner time, and ended up having just a salad roll later on.

Verity, from Joie de Tea recently awarded me with a Versatile Blogger Award.

versatile blogger award
Verity is one of my favourite tea blenders, who’s currently doing battle with bureaucracy over food preparation licensing. I hope she gets it all sorted out soon, her teas are divine!
The requirements of the award are as follows:
- Thank the giver and link their blog in your post.
Thank you Verity
…. tick
- Share seven things about yourself.
- I am an artist. It’s taken me fifty years to be able to say that.
- I have spent the last year fighting breast cancer. And now
I’m dealing with the shock/fear/doubt of there being another lump.
- I think I want a mastectomy. I have lumpy boobs, and don’t want to go through this every time someone finds a new lump.
- I have a brilliant daughter, and three wonderful grand children, who all light up my life.
- I sold a photo of lemon meringue pie for US$350.00
- I call myself a multi media artist and website junkie because I quilt, I make jewellery – fine silver, sterling silver, gemstones, fibres, beach stones…. I draw, I paint, I sew, I make websites, and I have a few of my own.
- I love my puppy, Dora, and I have a fruit-loop cat, Mosi.
…. tick
- Pass the reward to 15 recently discovered blogs. Hmm… I’m ignoring the recently discovered part, and I’m not sure if I’ll get to 15 or not. (And I know that some of these have already been awarded….)
- chel, from gingerblue.com
- Lynda, from digital woe – her Friday Finds photography posts/meme are great fun!
- Carrie, from Earthmovers and Sandcastles.
- Shannon, from Everyday Stranger
- Geninne, from Geninne’s Art Blog
- Lorrie, of Illusio Creative
- Erin, from Inner Earth Soaps
- Béa, from La Tartine Gourmande

Ok… so I got to 15! go me! ….. tick!!
- Contact the bloggers to let them know about the reward.
Well it would be nice to think that they’d all just see this, but because that’s unrealistic, I’ll let them all know!
These are just some of the lovely things by the people who’s blogs I’ve listed today. All on flickr.

I saw my GP this morning. He had a look at the films, but didn’t have a whole lot to say about them, but he has written me a referral for the ultrasound, and printed it on the same sheet as where I went for the mammogram. There is a place right next door to his surgery and I asked if I couldn’t just go there, but he said no. He wanted me to go back to the place that found it because they’d know what they were looking for. He also wanted to know when I was going back to the hospital, which I hadn’t got my appointment sent out to me for yet. I said I’d thought he’d be wanting me to ring them and get an appointment asap, which he said he does. I rang the hospital when I got home and they had already made my appointment, I just don’t have the letter yet. That’s on 8th September.

I got my mammogram this morning. They weren’t very happy that I didn’t have an ultrasound booked too. They thought I should be having one of those too. Then after the radiologist looked at them they definitely think I should have one.
My left breast is showing normal radiological changes.
The right breast has a “new small circumscribed density is noted anteriorly in the superior aspect of the breast (in cc projection deep to nipple and oblique projection over a bifurcated vessel.)”

I wrote that I was In Shock.
I am again.
On 22 June my mother-in-law had a lumpectomy. Her results were all good, but she’s decided to have a bi-lateral mastectomy. Which she’s getting tomorrow.
I totally understand why, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less scary. Not for me, nor I imagine, for her. And not for Neil either.

Sometimes things really do happen quite by chance.
I was looking for images this morning, with a search term “change of mind”. One of the images I found was this one.
The Tower – 8×10 Fine Art Photo from my Tarot Series, by interrobangart
Sort of led me to another search, and I realised that I’d just been given an accidental reading.

I’m really tempted to start this with a silly joke – orange you glad that I didn’t?
I baked a cake the other day. Ali made some of the most divine muffins for our morning tea at the DUST conference that I had to make some too. I didn’t muffinise them though, I just made a bar cake.
It is soooo delicious!

We usually take time for granted.
It’s pretty consistent, except for when we’re really waiting for something, and then it passes really slowly, or when we don’t want something to end, and then it passes really quickly.
Having to wait for something can be all kinds of horrible.

Erin, of Inner Earth Soaps is running a Father’s Day Soap Giveaway.
I bet Abigail will enter. Abigail is a huge fan of Erin’s soap.
While we were in our cabin at Tweed Heads last friday (for the DUST conference), we were brushing our teeth before going out to the shops and then to pick up Vickie from the airport, and I said to Abigail, guess what I have in there? – I was pointing to my toiletries bag – as I reached in to pull out my soap box she said, “I don’t knoooooooooOOOOOOHH!” as she spotted what was in my soap box. Her all time favourite, Honeybunch.
I’ve never met another five year old who can identify a hand made soap and know it’s name.
